Certification Courses
This course is designed to train and certify qualified candidates in life guarding skills, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Standard First Aid. Emphasis of the course is on prevention and response to aquatic emergencies. This course is a professional level course presented by the American Red Cross and is required by most agencies in order to be considered for employment as a lifeguard. Candidates must be at least 15 years of age and must pass a minimum swimming proficiency exam. Max. 10 students per class. Please inquire at the office for registration forms.
Cost of class $200 for PSC members $250 for non-members A $50 deposit is required for materials at time of registration The deposit is non-refundable Prerequisites Candidates must be at least 15 years of age by course completion date. Proof of age is required. Minimum required skills include: 1) 300 yard swim: demonstrating freestyle, breaststroke, and sidestroke. 2) Recovery of a 10 lb. brick from 7 ft. 3) 2 minutes of unassisted treading water 4) if under 18, must present a parent permission waiver
Certificates All candidates who successfully complete the course are eligible to receive the following American Red Cross certificates: 1) Lifeguard Training 2) CPR for the Professional Rescuer 3) Community First Aid
2010 Course Dates Class A: April 5-9 (10th make-up day) Class B: May 7-8 and May 21-23

This course is a professional level course presented by the American Red Cross and is required by most agencies in order to be considered for employment as a swim instructor. Max. 10 students per class. Please inquire at the office for course schedule.
